Telehealth Therapist in North Carolina
Hi, I'm Sam!
Licensed Therapist & Founder of Still Ground Counseling
I’m an AuDHD therapist, cat mom, military spouse, and chronically ill human, which means I’m all too familiar with unpredictability, reinvention, and learning how to function in systems that weren’t exactly built for folks like me.
My life hasn’t followed a straight, tidy path. It’s been relocations, capacity shifts, flare seasons, identity pivots, and figuring out how to navigate ever-changing health. I know what it feels like to look capable on the outside while quietly collapsing on the inside.
That lived experience shapes how I move through the world and is why Still Ground exists in the first place.

Outside of Therapy
Outside of this work, you’ll find me at the aerial studio when my body allows, out in the garden, baking sourdough, or on a photography adventure. Almost all of the photos on this site were taken by either myself or my husband.
Creativity keeps me grounded and reminds me that life can still hold beauty, even when it looks different than we expected.
I share my home with my husband and our two cats, Milton and Marty. Sometimes the kitties like to make an appearance during sessions, but I promise they'll keep everything confidential too.

Why
"Still Ground"
Life can feel loud, fast, and overwhelming, especially when you’re navigating chronic illness and neurodivergence. "Still Ground" is about finding a sense of peace and internal steadiness even when everything around you feels perpetually uncertain.
The lotus in my logo emulates this notion. It grows from mud, rooted in murky water, and yet blooms into something beautiful. Growth doesn’t require pristine conditions; it can happen in the middle of mess, pain, and complexity.
The empty chair is a quiet nod to Gestalt therapy — a reminder that what’s unfinished or unspoken still deserves space. It represents presence, curiosity, and potential.
